My husband's grandfather owned and operated the Merchant Dairy in Danville, VA back in the 40's/50's. I am not certain how long the dairy was in business. Anyway we have one bottle, but would like to give one to my brother-in-law and his fiancee at their wedding (this September).

I thought this would be easy, and have checked in several antique stores and flea markets in Danville, but I never realized there were so many people interested in milk bottle collecting. I'm starting to think this may be looking for a needle in a haystack. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone has any information, please email me at above address. Thank you.

Greetings from Ohio !

Between 1930-1990, the CHROBAK family ran the SHADY LANE DAIRY in NEW CASTLE, PA. That was my Grandpa, dad & uncles. When the farm was sold in the early 90's no one thought to save a bottle. I am asking all you collecters to please get in touch with me if any of you come accross a SHADY LANE bottle you would be willing to sell. It would really mean a lot. I would be happy to send a picture of the farm and one of a milk truck. Thanks !

Greetings from central Illinois! I am interested in bottles from my area's past dairies (Peoria: Bourland's, Schwab's, Schirers, Stafford's, etc.). If anyone knows of some, please drop me a line.

By the way, I know that the Chester Dairy still bottles Farm Fresh milk in glass. Boy I long for those days. I also know of a firm that bought the Laesch Dairy in Bloomington and now sells limited #s of 1/2 gal bottles of milk at area stores under the "Oberweis Dairy" name, FYI for those interested in Illinois dairies. One last question: are there any other dairies in the state or mid-west where they still bottle milk in glass for sale? Thanks.

Keep up the good work.....

Hey Ralph, Tim again.

If your not already a member, you should join DCoA, Divco Club of America. This is a group that is in to the preservation, etc of those trucks that delivered milk door to door. DCoA and NAMBC are working together for an upcoming Hershey meeting. Sounds exciting.

Check out there web page

See ya.........

I am specifically looking for "diffrent" bottles from Texas and Louisiana, ones with interesting pictures and writing. They don't have to be in great condition, I like a little character. Our family shows Brown Swiss and Jersey cattle, and we didn't get into the bottle habit until we bought a few to use in an exibit. I'd really like to find a bottle from Dairyland Farms that was in Ft. Worth, Texas. This dairy belonged to my great grandparents.

Ralph,

Enjoyed you web page. In the 30's & 40's, my grandfather ran a dairy in Walston, PA and I would love a bottle from POLITO's DAIRY.

When I was growing up, we drank milk from KROMER's DAIRY of Punxsutawney, PA.

I know I got spanked a few times for dropping milk bottles on the way home from the corner store. The cold bottles would sweat and get slippery!

As a kid, I was glad to see paper cartons come along.

I am trying to obtain bottle or bottles from my Grandfather's milk business, B.W. Roberts & Son. "Golden Guernsey Milk" Salem, Mass. Company was in business from 1939 to mid sixties when it was sold to Sunnyhurst Dairies.I worked for him all during WWII until I went into the service. So I have handled millions of bottles and would like a keepsake.

Very Interesting. I work on an old cattle ranch that was once associated with the White Belt Dairy in the Miami, Florida area. When the ranch was purchased twelve years ago there were cases of milk bottles everywhere. They were all thrown out. Now we would like to have one bottle for a display and we can't find one. I am looking for one to buy. David Black

I came across your site when I was looking for information on "Pet Milk" bottles

Could you tell me if you have any info, on the Pet Milk bottles or the company it's self?

If so,which bottle would be older, the orange print or the red print on them.

Thank you, Molly
